Whilst Lancaster has a good representation for all major sports including football, golf, rowing and rugby, it’s the town’s Water Polo team where it really excels. This team has won the National title numerous times and now has a lively academy for younger players. Despite its relatively small size, Lancaster is pretty well served for sports shops – and not just by the obligatory JJB Sports which is located on North Road. Look a little further afield and you will find several independent Lancaster sports shops that specialise in specific sports to provide amateurs with the best advice and the best choice of products. Example of this include The Runners Centre in King Street and Ultimate Outdoors on New Street.
